POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a report of a collision and subsequent disturbance on the A98 in Cullen. The incident occurred at about 4.30pm on Saturday, September 8, and involved a number of vehicles, including motorbikes. Following the incident, a disturbance took place, during which a number of people were allegedly assaulted. It led to a number of arrests. Those accused were expected to appear in court yesterday, after the Advertiser’s print deadline. Inspector Neil Campbell said: “This was an isolated albeit concerning incident given the time and location, as well as the number of people and vehicles involved. “I want to assure the public that this type of behaviour – which is not common for the area – will not be tolerated. “A small number of people sustained injuries, however, none life-threatening. “Enquiries are ongoing to identify all those involved and I’m looking to hear from anyone who was travelling along the A98 between Banff and Buckie around this time who thinks they witnessed the collision or the disturbance. I’m especially keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage of what happened, or who captured the incident immediately before or after, in the vicinity of Cullen on the A98. “Anyone with information is asked to contact the police on 101 using incident number 2911 of September 8 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 if you wish to remain anonymous.” The A98 west approach into Cullen was closed on Saturday, reopening on Sunday afternoon, to allow enquiries to be carried out.
