A CHRISTMAS carol concert has seen a local group benefit to the tune of hundreds of pounds. The Sunday before Christmas saw Cluny Square play host to the inaugural Carols in the Square event. Buckie and District Community Choir provide the festive tunes and there was plenty going on in the square for people of all ages. Many businesses in the area opened specially for the occasion. Such was the popularity of the concert that public donations collected on the day amounted to £600, which has been donated to the Friends of Buckie Square (FOBS).
Choir chairwoman Kathleen Thompson said: “The positive community atmosphere on the day was appreciated by all and the event was well supported by local people who enjoyed the chance to participate in community singing of well-known Christmas carols. “Many local shops and businesses stayed open that afternoon, Santa gave out small gifts to children and many local people supported the event in many different ways. “In particular the wonderful support of Struan House and DJ Paul Tough helped ensure this event will become a regular on the local Buckie calendar.”
