ROVERS booked their place in the semi-finals of the Elginshire Cup after a battling 2-1 victory away to Whitehills. Newly-signed defender Darren Wood (pictured) gave the Merson Park men a half-time lead before the hosts levelled. However, sub Ryan Matheson gave Buckie the three points and a guaranteed place in the draw for the semis. Rovers co-manager Kyle Mackay said: “We’re delighted to be in the semis; it hasn’t the best of games but the boys put in a performance and got the win. “Whitehills away is never an easy game. “Everyone put in a good shift.” In addition to the goalscorers, Mackay picked out Liam Wood and Danny McDonagh as his stars of the match. Next up this Saturday it’s a return to league business when table toppers Banchory St Ternan come calling. With four league games left, points are imperative for second bottom placed Rovers. Kick-off is 2pm.
