WORK has begun in Portknockie to repair damage caused by major landslips. Contractor Morrison Construction had already set up a base of operations at the harbour the week before, but last Wednesday saw a digger and other vehicles start work on the back road to the harbour leading up to Patrol Road. Also included on the programme of repair works are various slips along
Harbour Road. In order to fix the landslips, which threaten to undermine both the roadway and nearby houses, Morrison intends to drive a total of 274 5m long soil nails into the banking, which will then be covered with netting to stabilise the ground. This will be topped off with soil and grass. It is hoped the work should be completed by the end of July.
