A LEAVING dinner and a musical garden party marked the end of Banffshire champion Clare Russell’s long run as Lord Lieutenant. Andy Simpson (63) has been appointed as Mrs Russell’s successor. Lady Laird of Ballindalloch Castle Mrs Russell opened up the castle grounds for the party on Sunday. Families enjoyed picnics and a celebration of local music as Mrs Russell bowed out after 17 years as an ambassador. Music was provided by local massed pipe bands, Keith Brass Band, Buckie Boys’ Brigade Bugle Band, Andy McCormack and his Ceilidh Band, and the Kinloss Military Wives Choir. A leaving dinner was held at the Seafield Arms in Cullen to thank Mrs Russell for her dedication. Mr Simpson’s first official engagement will be Remembrance Day in Banff on November 11.
