COMMUNITY groups who have a project which aims to make Buckie a better place can now apply for a share of a £20,000 funding pot.
After a hugely successful inaugural year in 2018, the Buckie Regeneration Group’s Bucks4Buckie scheme is back offering grants from £500 up to £3500 The destination and amount of the grants will be decided by an open vote at a public event to be held on May 11 Regeneration group chairman Gordon McDonald said: “We have managed to pull together a £20,000 package of funds to support another Bucks4Buckie.
“The previous event was far more successful than we could have hoped for and we believe that participatory budgeting is a great way of involving the community in the decision-making process.”
He added: “The choice of the best projects is made by those who come along on the day is far more democratic. “It seen by everyone to be a far fairer and more transparent way to make the awards.”
Moray Council community support manager Ian Todd added: “B4B is a great opportunity for local groups to apply for funding for a project that will make Buckie a better place area and help the local economy. “
