THE weather was not to vanquish community spirit as Cullen Harbour gala road through the rain and wind and into the sunshine. The event, run by the Three harbours Association (THA), did not have the most auspicious of starts and saw a number attractions, including the swimming race, skiff tug of war and duck race (set to be held at a later date), cancelled as a result, but the afternoon was to paint a brighter picture. THA chairman Prof Ashley Mowat said: “The wind dropped, the sun came out and
we had quite a crowd in the afternoon. “The team of volunteers we had were absolutely amazing, they dealt with everything the day threw at them. “It was a good day all round despite the weather.” There was plenty to do on both the pier and Cullen Sea School with live music from harpist Judy Phillip and band Ony Direction, a barbecue and stalls, as well as visits from Cullen firefighters, Buckie RNLI lifeboat and Buckie Coastguards Also much admired was a fantastic display of cakes.
