A CLASSIC tale with a twist is in store for Buckie panto-goers early next year. Buckie Communtiy Theatre Group have already begun work on their production of Sleeping Beauty, which is due to hit the stage over Wednesday to Saturday, February 16-19, 2019 in the Fishermen’s Hall. It is a case of return of the
native when it comes to the lead role, which is being played by Danya Smith. Danya was a member of the group a number of years ago and has now returned to the fold and is getting her teeth into rehearsals. Taking on the other main role in the production of Prince
Charming is Tom William. Also numbering among the large cast aged nine to adult is Amy Lewis, who plays the Good Fairy, and Vicky Donn, who is her evil adversary, the Bad Fairy. It will be a special production for Vicky as she also debuts as musical director. Looking forward to the show, Glen Campbell, from the theatre group, said: “We’ve got every large cast this year of all ages; our director, Kevin Oakes, has opened participation out from age nine to adult. “There’ll be some spectacular special effects this year which will at least match anything we’ve had before.
“We’re also delighted to have Vicky working with us as musical director. She’s teaching in Lossiemouth now and both roles her with the school and the theatre group should help each other. “Kevin has written the show with plenty of twists and turns, although there are still plenty of the traditional elements in it, too. It’s a version unique to the theatre group. “Everyone’s very enthusiastic about this, we’re just buzzing.” For more information on the show, and to keep abreast of ticket availability, follow the theatre group’s Facebook page.
