THERE was a spot of Easter Sunday excitement at Findochty Harbour when the village’s Water Sports Club launched their new St Ayles skiff Morven. Escorting the vessel into the water was a guard of honour formed by neighbouring skiffs from Banff, Findhorn, Lossiemouth, Whitehills, Cullen and Burghead. The Morven was christened with a 12-year-old Glenfiddich by Ian Palmer from sponsors
William Grant and Sons. Club commodore Mairi Innes said: “I’d like to thank the large and enthusiastic team of boatbuilders – I’m very proud of you all.” Sponsoring the project were Big Lottery, Tesco Bags of Help, Mary Salmond Trust, North Sea Brent Alpha Platform, William Grant & Sons and Stitch ‘n’ Awl. Thanks were also voiced to the Three Kings Association Cullen and Whitehills Rowing Club.
