Life-savers head for charity tournament

A Buckie barmaid who saved a customer’s life last year when he went into cardiac arrest is to take part in a fund-raiser for Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland (CHSS).
Lynda Murray will be joined by colleagues from the Pub in the Square (Pits) in Buckie at the Buckie It’s a Knockout charity tournament at the end of July where the charity will be the primary beneficiary.
Staff from The Pub in the Square, Buckie, will be taking part in annual charity fundraiser; Buckie It’s a Knockout, to raise vital funds for Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland (CHSS).

The team, who have called themselves The Party animals, were inspired to take on the challenge when, on November 25 last year, Lynda heroically stepped in and performed CPR after a customer suffered a cardiac arrest and stopped breathing in the pub.
After raising funds for a defibrillator earlier this year, the team want to take on another challenge to help support more people affected by chest, heart and stroke conditions.
Lynda, who will be leading the team, said: “After what happened last year in the pub, I think the whole team got such a shock that we just wanted to do what we can to help.
“Getting the defibrillator for the pub was our first step but now we want to support people living with heart conditions and all those who survive their cardiac arrests.”
Buckie It’s a Knockout returns on Saturday, July 28 to Linzee Gordon Park where adult teams and kids teams will take on the inflatables and go head to head on a number of foamy challenges.
All the proceeds from the event will help support the over one million people in Scotland living with the effects of chest and heart conditions and stroke.
Katie Jones, local CHSS fund-raising advisor, commented, “We are delighted to have the support of Lynda and the team and of course efforts from event organiser, Denise Thomson, who raises such an incredible amount of money every year through the event.
“The funds raised will go towards supporting more people in Moray who are living with chest, heart and stroke conditions. Here at CHSS we want to ensure No Life Half Lived in Scotland and our fundraisers are vital in helping us do this.”
