THE vision behind the proposed £200 million Moray Growth Deal and how it will be delivered has been showcased at Holyrood. The team leading the bid for the cash met with MSPs and government officials at the Scottish Parliament. Moray Council’s leader, Graham Leadbitter, stated it had been a productive day. He added: “Both the workshop in the afternoon and then the evening event with MSPs were an opportunity to showcase Moray and our plans for the future. A growth deal will form a significant part of delivering those ambitions. The hard work will continue over the next few months to make the best case and deliver a good deal for the people of Moray that will enable sustainable and exciting economic growth in our region.” Aberdeen was given a £826 million growth deal in November 2016, while Inverness received
£315 million. The Moray Growth Deal would include, among other things, the expansion of Moray College UHI to keep more young people in the region, a new gas pipeline for the region to allow more businesses to connect to the national grid and a four-star hotel. The event, which was hosted by Stewart Stevenson, MSP for Banffshire and Buchan Coast, included the politicians getting an insight into challenges specific to Moray and the growth deal projects that are designed to address them. Mr Stevenson said: “The Moray Growth Deal will be a game changer for the region now and in the future. “I was passionate about bringing a little bit of Moray to Holyrood and getting my fellow MSPs fired up about the Moray Growth Deal which could bring benefits for generations to come. “ More information about the deal visit http://www. mymoray.co.uk/
