Council survey points to a drop in satisfaction

SATISFACTION with some of Moray Council’s services has declined steeply over the past three years – if new figures can be believed. Just 33 per cent of harbour users are now satisfied with the facilities. That compares to 60 per cent in 2014/15. Meanwhile, only 35 per cent are content with the state of Moray’s roads, compared to 53 per cent in 2014/15. The fall is even more stark when it comes to the question of car parking, with 55 per cent saying they were happy compared to 84 per cent three years ago. However, officers speaking at a Moray Council meeting recently were keen to point out that the method of collecting results was now different. Previously these annual surveys were conducted with what was known as the citizen’s panel, whereby questions were sent to about 1000 people. This year, by contrast, the audience was made up of visitors to the council’s own website. The other results showed 88 per cent satisfied with refuse collection, compared to 93 per cent. Meanwhile, 65 per cent were content with parks and open spaces, compared to 75 per cent. Bucking the trend was street cleaning which actually showed an increase in customer satisfaction, with the percentage figure rising to 61 from 58.
