MEDICAL colleagues from Buckie have raised more than £4300 for charity by shaving off their hair. Ardach Health Centre’s Joyce Geddes and Margaret-Ann Mitchell were cheered on by team members as they braved the shave for Macmillan Cancer Support. Money is still coming in, but together they have already raised £4350. Joyce, who works as a phlebotomist, said: “Every week I am either taking blood from someone who is undergoing treatment, going to an oncology clinic, having monitoring bloods or being transfused. “I have done this job for 17-18 years, that is a lot of people.” Margaret-Ann, an advanced nurse practitioner, also regularly comes across patients and families who have had support from Macmillan. This year, raising money is more important than ever as one of her friends is undergoing treatment. “This is a physical way that I can support and help this incredibly brave quine,” she said. Both Joyce and Margaret-Ann set out to raise £300 and smashed that target within days of kicking off their fundraising. Macmillan Cancer Support offers support to cancer sufferers and their families in a number of ways.
